What Is Sermorelin Peptide?

Home » Knowledge Center » Hormone Therapy » What Is Sermorelin Peptide?

Sermorelin is an analog of the naturally occurring growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) that stimulates the body to make and release human growth hormone (HGH). This analog is made by recreating a peptide containing the first 29 amino acids that make up the natural GHRH. Because of its construction, sermorelin is a peptide. This is why therapy that includes this hormone is sometimes called sermorelin peptide therapy.

Sermorelin therapy may also include one or more growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRP), as well. Most commonly, this includes GHRP 2 or GHRP 6. Sermorelin partners with these peptides to kickstart the pituitary gland into producing higher levels of growth hormone. Both sermorelin peptide and these other peptides are bioidentical to the ones that occur naturally in the body.

Understanding Sermorelin Peptide Therapy

Sermorelin, when used in conjunction with a personalized plan that addresses your declining levels of growth hormone, may be able to increase your growth hormone levels. Many of our HealthGAINS members who are prescribed sermorelin therapy report positive changes in their overall wellness relatively quickly. This may include:

  • Improved memory, focus, concentration, and stamina
  • More energy
  • Better sleep with fewer sleep disturbances
  • Improved skin elasticity
  • Healthier heart and improved immune system
  • Increased bone density and bone strength
  • Increased muscle mass
  • Increased ability to rebuild lost muscle mass
  • Increase in sex drive, sexual potency, and frequency
  • Improved cognitive functioning

We prescribe only medically proven science-based treatments and therapies. This includes the use of prescription sermorelin and other hormone replacement therapy medications.

Administering Your Sermorelin Peptide Injection

Sermorelin peptide is taken every day, generally on an empty stomach just before bedtime. The injection is given subcutaneously, into the fatty tissue just under the skin. This could include the abdomen, hip, thigh, upper arm, or other fatty areas of the body. Most doctors recommend rotating where you administer the injection to prevent bruising.

Sermorelin peptide is administered using a very fine needle similar to those used by insulin-dependent diabetics. The injection may cause a slight pinch or stinging sensation, but it is not painful.

If you have any questions about how to administer a subcutaneous injection, how to measure your dose, or other concerns, your doctor will be able to answer them for you.

Other Replacement Hormones and GHRP Used in Sermorelin Peptide Therapy

In some cases, doctors prescribe sermorelin peptide on its own for helping to regulate declining HGH levels. In other cases, though, it is used in conjunction with other injectables. This may include growth hormone-releasing peptides such as GHRP 2, GHRP 6, or ipamorelin injections. GHRPs help the body to produce its own growth hormones naturally, correcting the imbalance without resorting to hormone replacement therapy.

Sometimes, though, human growth hormone replacement therapy is the best option to raise a person’s low hormone levels and stop symptoms quickly. If your doctor prescribes HGH replacement therapy, this will be a very closely monitored, tightly controlled plan to raise your hormone levels to normal.

Once your hormone levels reach a normal level, your doctor may have you continue your therapy without the growth hormone injections. Sermorelin, with or without GHRPs, can maintain the appropriate level of growth hormone in most people.

Your Initial Consultation Will Include a Test of Your Hormone Levels

One of the first things we do when someone comes to us for help realizing their optimal health and wellness is to run blood tests to help us understand if a hormone deficiency or imbalance is causing their symptoms. Sermorelin peptide therapy will be effective for you only if you have declining levels of growth hormones. We will not prescribe this hormone or any other medication unless you have a medical reason for needing it.

We can help men and women of any age regain more youthful levels of hormones. If your blood work shows you have declining levels of growth hormones, we will create a customizable sermorelin peptide plan just for you, and based on your individual needs.
