What Is Sermorelin Good for?

Home » Knowledge Center » Hormone Therapy » What Is Sermorelin Good for?

Sermorelin plays an important role in stimulating the pituitary gland into producing and releasing human growth hormone (HGH), no matter if it is naturally occurring or injected subcutaneously. Sermorelin injections offer a way for people to receive human growth hormone-releasing chemicals when the body does not produce enough on its own.

If you’d like to know what is sermorelin good for, it’s important to know that it can help increase the amount of human growth hormone in the body. Taking appropriate doses at the discretion of a doctor may provide the user with noticeable health benefits within the first six months of being prescribed as one component of an entire hormone therapy plan.

Sermorelin Acts as a Bolster for Increasing HGH Levels

Sermorelin was originally available under the brand name Sermorelin Acetate. This drug, approved by the Food and Drug Administration, was used for two primary purposes:

  • For diagnosis and evaluation of pituitary function in children and adolescents
  • For stimulating growth in children with growth restriction

Today, however, sermorelin is also frequently used for off-label use in adults with age-related hormone insufficiency. It may help increase and balance levels of human growth hormones in adults in a similar way it helps bolster these hormone levels in adolescents.

Sermorelin and Hormone Replacement Therapy Plans

As part of a comprehensive program to address declining or low levels of human growth hormone, sermorelin and other factors such as ipamorelin may be able to make a difference in both men and women approaching middle age.

While human growth hormone production declines over time, there are also additional causes that can lead to problems. Hormonal changes associated with menopause, thyroid dysfunction, and other health conditions can also cause low human growth hormone.

In some cases, people with declining human growth hormone also have additional low hormone levels that affect their overall wellbeing. As a part of their individualized plan from HealthGAINS, they may receive the full range of hormone treatments needed to increase their levels.

Women with hormone deficiencies may need hormone replacement therapy that includes:

  • Estrogen
  • Progesterone
  • Low levels of testosterone

Men with declining hormone levels may need:

  • Testosterone
  • Other hormones as indicated by lab tests

While sermorelin is generally administered by injection, other types of hormone replacement therapy may be available in a pill, cream, or gel form. A doctor will instruct patients on how to administer each hormone or other therapy. In the case of sermorelin, a subcutaneous injection into the abdomen, thigh, or deltoid is most common.

Sermorelin Encourages the Production of HGH

Sermorelin is good for a variety of things in the body. Sermorelin primarily works by helping to increase a person’s levels of human growth hormone. Sermorelin treatment will only be effective when the body has reduced its production and release of this chemical. If there is another factor influencing the body’s human growth hormone level, sermorelin may be unlikely to help.

When HealthGAINS members with low or declining human growth hormones undergo hormone replacement that typically includes sermorelin therapy, they report improvements such as:

  • Improved feelings of vitality
  • Increased energy
  • Improved stamina
  • Better sleep with reduced disturbances during the night
  • Skin texture changes and improved elasticity
  • Improved cardiovascular endurance
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Improved bone density
  • Increase in muscle mass and lowered body fat percentage
  • Increase in sex drive and satisfaction
  • Improved focus and concentration
  • Improved cognitive skills and mental functioning

HealthGAINS Can Determine What Treatment is Appropriate

Before prescribing any medication, HealthGAINS requires members to undergo a lab panel to determine their baseline hormone levels. This blood work will determine what type of therapy may be necessary, how likely declining hormone levels are causing someone’s symptoms, and their starting dose. If the results of the blood work show that someone has significantly declining or low human growth hormone, a doctor may prescribe sermorelin therapy as a central part of their hormone replacement plan.

If the lab panel does not show low levels of human growth hormone, it is unlikely that sermorelin therapy will be effective for them. HealthGAINS will not prescribe this medication unless a hormone deficiency is detected that sermorelin can help us address. A person may also need additional hormones as a part of their comprehensive hormone replacement therapy.

HRT Plans Are Unique to a Person’s Individual Needs

HealthGAINS customizes every plan that is put into place for members. Not only will people have a prescription that addresses their specific needs, but a doctor will monitor a person’s hormone levels and adjust their therapy accordingly.
