Does Sermorelin Need to Be Refrigerated?
hormone, sermorelin, therapy, levels, medication, healthgains, plan, based, health, doctor

According to the Mayo Clinic, injection route sermorelin does need to be refrigerated to ensure its effectiveness and stability. However, you should not freeze this medication. If you need to take it with you, you can store it in a cooler with ice packs when refrigeration is not possible.

Sermorelin requires proper handling, similar to the way insulin-dependent diabetics need to store and handle their medication. Your doctor can answer your questions and offer more information on how to store and handle your medication.

Administering Sermorelin Requires You to Follow Your Doctor’s Instructions

The administration of sermorelin depends on the instructions provided by your doctor. For example, when used for diagnostic reasons, you will likely need to inject it as soon as you wake up in the morning. For most other purposes, however, your doctor will likely recommend administering your injection at bedtime each night.

Sermorelin injections should be given subcutaneously. This means you will insert the tip of the needle into the fatty tissue just under the skin. This is generally much easier and less painful than injections into muscle or veins.

Because of the way this medication is administered, you should experience only a small amount of pain. However, many doctors recommend rotating where you inject sermorelin. This is because bruising and soreness are possible if you use the same site too frequently. Some common areas to inject this medication include the:

  • Stomach or abdomen
  • Hip
  • Thigh
  • Deltoid or upper arm

In many cases, your doctor will also recommend taking this medication on an empty stomach and waiting for a set period before eating. This is because of the relationship between this hormone and insulin.

Your Medical Care Professionals Should Oversee Your Therapy

It is very important to follow your doctor’s instructions on handling, storing, and using the medications prescribed as a part of your hormone replacement therapy. This includes keeping your sermorelin refrigerated. While this medication does not replace human growth hormone, it does play a key role in this type of treatment. This is because sermorelin stimulates the body to create and release more of this important hormone.

Your doctor will likely want to monitor your hormone levels during your therapy to see how the customized plan is working. This may require regular blood work or other evaluations. At HealthGAINS, our health coaches will work with you regularly to ensure you understand your plan, are making progress, and do not have any questions or concerns.

Understanding the Purpose of Sermorelin Therapy

Sermorelin is a hormone that stimulates the production of other hormones. The medication prescribed by HealthGAINS is bioidentical to the sermorelin produced in the body that triggers the release of human growth hormone naturally. Sermorelin also plays a role in the production and secretion of other hormones.

We generally use sermorelin therapy as a part of a comprehensive plan to restore and maintain proper hormone levels in our clients. Before therapy, many report having:

  • Low energy
  • Inability to focus and concentrate
  • Poor sleep
  • Decreased immune system strength
  • Increased body fat and decreased muscle mass
  • Loss of libido and sexual potency
  • Decreased cognitive skills
  • Memory difficulties

We create a customized plan based on their individual needs, using medically proven therapies and programs to increase their hormone levels and help them improve overall wellbeing. This may include:

  • Sermorelin therapy
  • Other hormonal therapies (as outlined by the Mayo Clinic)
  • Changes in diet, fitness, and lifestyle to support the therapies
  • Other therapies to address specific needs

Because all of our plans are customized, we can help men and women of any age or any stage of life.

Let HealthGAINS Determine if Sermorelin Therapy Is Right for You

One of the first steps the HealthGAINS team will take to address a member’s individual needs is to order blood work. Based on the lab panel, we can tell which hormones are lower than expected and what may be causing your low energy and other symptoms.

All of our treatments are based on science and medically sound. We will not prescribe sermorelin injections unless we can first identify a hormone deficiency the injections might treat.

Your test results may show:

  • Normal hormone levels
  • An overall decrease in hormone levels
  • A decline in a specific hormone
  • An imbalance in hormones

If we find that you have declining or low levels of hormones, we can customize a plan that utilizes sermorelin therapy or other options depending on your personal needs. For example, men may require testosterone supplementation, while women may need estrogen, progesterone, or low levels of testosterone. Once we have your blood work results and have a good understanding of your hormone levels, we can explain your options and prescribe a plan based on your needs.

After you begin therapy, we will monitor you regularly to ensure your treatment is effective.
