Despite advertisements you may see to the contrary on the internet, you cannot “buy HGH.” At least not legally. The various “HGH products” you find for sale cannot by law contain any real Human Growth Hormone. The only way to obtain real Human Growth Hormone is with a doctor’s prescription, and the only way prescription HGH is administered is with an injection.
If you are under a doctor’s care and are being prescribed legitimate HGH obtained from a registered pharmacy, it is the doctor’s responsibility to stay within the law. Under these circumstances, the use of HGH is perfectly legal.
Human growth hormone is not controlled under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). However, under the 1990 Anabolic Steroids Control Act, the sale and use of HGH is prohibited “for any use…other than the treatment of a disease or other recognized medical condition, where such use has been authorized by the Secretary of Health and Human Services…and pursuant to the order of a physician” and is a five-year felony. HGH is listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee as a performance enhancing drug barring athletes from using it
The FDA-approved injectable forms of HGH are available as liquid preparations and/ or as a powder that can be reconstituted into a liquid for injection.
Both are fragile and require care for storage and use. Injectable growth hormone is typically sold in vials of powdered, freeze-dried HGH. The vials are sold with sterile water which you then mix together with the powder to create the HGH injection.
Prescription HGH is commonly referred to as a “kit,” and different kits come with different amounts of freeze-dried HGH powder and bacteria-free water. The package directions will indicate how much powder should be mixed with water to create the needed dose. Doses of injectable HGH are usually prescribed in milligrams but are sold and used as “IUs,” or “injectable units.” Convenient, pre-filled pens are also available, which make growth hormone easier to measure and to inject.
While the cost to buy HGH does vary, HGH injections are not cheap.
There are several reasons why HGH is expensive:
- Human Growth hormone is difficult to make
- Human Growth hormone is difficult to ship and store
- Human Growth hormone is produced by a limited number of FDA-approved companies
