We know that your testosterone level can influence your mood. We know that it can influence your energy level and you sex life.
But, can your testosterone level influence your ability to succeed in business? Research suggests that apparently it can!
In a recent study, scientists looked at the highly dramatic, highly risky, and potentially highly successful world of Wall Street. The researchers were not surprised to find that the majority of men who chose careers on Wall Street, had high levels of testosterone.
The researchers looked at 500 MBA students and said they could successfully predict which of them would wind up in highly competitive and potentially risky careers in finance. All they did was assess the testosterone level and level of risk aversion to determine this.
The researchers also discovered that your testosterone level changes after you lose at any given competition.
Some men after a loss, had a drop in testosterone. However, some after losing had spikes in testosterone level. The researchers found that those “losers” who had testosterone spikes after losing, were far more likely to compete again and succeed, compared to those whose testosterone dropped after a loss.
In related research, scientists also found that CEOs with a higher testosterone level, or other “deal makers” negotiated better. They were also more likely to initiate or close a major business deal such as a merger or acquisition, than those with a lower testosterone level.
Researchers with the Kellogg School of management said those with a higher testosterone level, were more likely to recognize a fair offer. Essentially, they were able to understand and react accordingly when they were being “low-balled.”
Keeping up With the Competition
In today’s highly competitive business world, it doesn’t matter if you are the CEO, or the one working on a key project, you know you need an edge to succeed.
But what happens when you start to lose that edge? As you get older your testosterone level drops, there is no way around that. And, as your testosterone level drops, you can find it difficult to concentrate, hard to focus, your stress goes up, and you may even start to lose your will to compete.
That can all be very detrimental to your success at work, or in your business, particularly if there are some “young wolves,” nipping at your heels.
Testosterone optimization, could be just what you need to get back in the game!
Take “John” for example, a 40 year old Wall Street venture capitalist who felt he was losing it and unable to put in the 12 hour days he used to. Tired and with a loss of motivation, he went to his regular doctor, who only wanted to prescribe antidepressants.
Instead, he chose to try testosterone replacement and as he said in an interview with the Financial:
“Wall Street is a play hard, work hard environment. Since my treatments, now I have a bit more of an alpha male personality, and I’m able to get by on less sleep. It’s the positive side of aggression. You change your mentality and start looking positively at the future.”
Optimize Your Testosterone Level
A low testosterone level can impact your quality of life, from the bedroom to the boardroom. The only way to determine if you are suffering from low testosterone, also known as “Low-T,” is with a specific panel of blood tests.
Once your level is properly assessed, and if it is determined to be low for you, you may be a candidate for hormone optimization. Testosterone optimization may, or may not require hormone replacement therapy, or HRT. Depending on your needs and lifestyle, we may be able to boost your testosterone levels with diet, lifestyle changes, and/or behavior modification.
However, if you need more than that, then we will create a bioidentical testosterone replacement program, customized to your particular needs.
Those are two very important points, and one of the things that distinguishes our program of hormone optimization from some of the others out there that take a “one-size fits all” approach to testosterone replacement.
We offer an alternative to Cenegenics and other programs, where bioidentical hormones are custom compounded to bring your levels back into the balance that is right for you. To be sure you reach your success goals in the shortest amount of time possible, you will be constantly monitored throughout the course of your hormone optimization program, and your doses adjusted as needed.
And, we now have an unprecedented ability to monitor your progress with our newly launched Virtual Wellness Portal, another HealthGAINS exclusive!
You can find out a lot more about testosterone optimization and how to age optimally in Dr. Gaines’ new full length book, Great Gains For Life –it is over 130 pages of life changing and life extending information.
